Together: Being and Serving
The Scoop on Aggies for Christ in 2017
Aggies for Christ is a unique community where college students grow in relationships with their peers while serving together.
Through service projects in the community, weekend trips to nearby churches, week-long trips to children’s homes, and summer mission trips around the world, students in the AFC are regularly given opportunities to serve. By serving together students create lasting memories and friendships.
AFC students enjoy weekly opportunities to serve through HYPE (Helping Youth Prepare for Eternity) where they work together to serve children from low-income families in the Bryan-College Station community. Multiple times a semester students are given the chance to visit another church and spend the weekend serving alongside their youth group. The time spent on van rides, serving together, or playing games with the church youth group is a unique time to create memories together.
Every January AFC starts the semester by spending the last week of winter break throughout Texas and Oklahoma at different children’s homes. Similar to weekend trips, these weeklong trips provide special opportunities for AFC students to grow in their relationships as they drive, serve, eat, laugh, and play games together.
International mission trips are especially unique in how they bring students together and grow relationships. On international mission trip students are challenged by new foods, languages, and cultures. They serve in ways that force them to step outside of their comfort zone, in that they create lasting memories together.
Service is a critical part of AFC’s identity and therefore is a critical part of the relationships built among students in AFC.
